Scripture Hunt

The venue for the Esther Ladies Retreat was held in Sunnigdale Park, with a theme titled ‘The Lord is my Sheperd’,it was a weeknd that would impact my walk in Christ for a life time.

Hunting for the bags of scriptures had a different effect on me. Like life, we need to find ourselves in God,and that can only suffice via deligently searching out his Word. There were places in the park I wouldn’t dare go into, rabbit holes, inside caves, under thick trees, but I remember that though his promises may not physically be hidden in such places, its still somewhat hidden from me unless I go in search for it.

I had companions, some of whom had amazing eyes and could spot bags of scriptures in places I dare not look, some few ladies I came across during the hunt gave me clues to finding more, some just pointed me to the spot, some picked out some scriptures for me from the hiding spots so I won’t have to go and get them myself.

This reminds me of life and our walk of faith. We all seem to have gifts from God according to the needs of the body of Christ. My friend who saw more bags than I could, to me, she was there to see more than I can and edify me with what she saw, those that gave clues and pointed out places to me signifies that in life, you will always have encouragers, direction givers but maybe not the exact answer you may need. My friends that found the bags and picked up some scriptures for me signifies that some people don’t mind being used to get God’s word across to you. At some point, I was weary, tired and almost giving up, this happens to us most times, weariness may come from looking and finding nothing.

Although I ended up with over 20 scriptures, I made sure that I read, meditated and received what I found. Although I didn’t win the ultimate prize of finding 50 scriptures from the woods, I knew I won something, and that was my questions answered. Out of the 20 scriptures I found and meditated on, 2 of them bore the answers to the questions I needed answers to, 2 others I found were for my family, my husband in particular.

At 6.40am the 3rd day, I tried what Pastor Funke said, walk in the woods and imagine, ask him and wait for him to answer, afterall, he is The Sheperd. I did and this revelation crowned my whole retreat.
