Who are you?
I find that we naturally identify ourselves by comfortable habits whether good or bad, thinking such habits define us. I have a friend who says ‘that’s just me, I can’t help it’, even when he is doing something bad for his own body.
Well who are you really? What if, like the Matrix you are actually someone else who can achieve better fruitful living, full of what life should be for you and also making a positive and lasting change to the human race? Why would you let your habits define you? Well you don’t have to. You can make a change because the free will to make that change is in you.
No matter what you think or what has been said to you all your life till this moment, please think carefully about what you are about to read. You see, YOU can’t just be a mass of flesh that expires and then turn to soil or comes back in another life as a dog, cat or your most favored pet; neither is your mass of flesh the main source of your living. Look at a car for example, no matter what shape a car takes, (old, new or battered) you will find the engine in the car actually moves the car (by the combination of several things) not the body. Dynamism and style could make the car attractive but putting it to the test (movement or speed) will only be answered by the engine. No engine, bad engine or engine in poor condition fails the test, very simple.
Here is who YOU are
YOU are a combination of Body, Spirit and Soul, made in the image of your creator, whose image is also three in one, God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost Genesis 1:26 (Amplified).

All in all, YOU are body, spirit and soul. Body is your shell as in the example of the car made above, soul is not seen so can only stand as the engine and the spirit will be the driver as you should be lead in all you do by the spirit of God and nothing else. You see, God who designed the first prototype of you ensured a manual was written so that you can function to full capacity and also ensure YOU can be repaired when the test of life comes, you are able to scale through with flying colors. Ensure that YOU (soul) take direction from the correct source (Spirit of God).
This will mean making sure you use the manual He created so you can always stay connected. This manual, the scriptures, the Holy Bible!!!! Oldest book with the latest information!
It’s the manual for your righteous and perfect living and the only true thing about YOU is hidden in it.

The Depth of the Heart
In today’s world, there are several things said to us that we easily agree to not knowing the source or how much it can impact our daily living and yet we always seem to wonder what’s wrong? We ask why this or that are not working is.
If you have ever trusted your heart in the past and you still got hurt, I know the reason why, it’s because your heart lacks the ability to make the right decisions for you.
All your life you may have been told and encouraged to follow your heart but the reality is that your heart can’t entirely be true to you because it has its own mind and is simply unable to lead you (your soul) right.

The reason your heart is deceitful is because it has its own mind (mostly in tune with the satisfaction of the flesh), this happens because issues of life are saved in the heart on the platform of expressions and emotions for example love, desire or wants. Not all these issues can lead your soul to eternity, most are bad examples you would want to get rid off depending on the experience you may have had.
Many may say that we are to trust our hearts, your heart can’t lie to you or true love comes from the heart! Beware of these teachings, verify what the Bible says and take heed to Romans 8:6-7 (Amplified Bible) as you find the real you.
We ought to be careful about how we trust our hearts to make decisions for us and also be mindful of all the things we go through in life that seems to define who we are because they may lay a wrong foundation for righteous living.
What should you trust? The Scriptures a.k.a the Holy Bible!!! It’s the manual for your righteous and perfect living and the only true thing about YOU is hidden in it.

Was that ‘really’ your choice?
Moving on in this series of finding the real you, we have looked at who we really are, encompassing body, spirit and soul in the image of our maker, God. We have also looked at the heart as a source of mindful decision making.
We will now look at the build up of your senses, wants, mind, heart desires, decisions and finally your choices. We thank God for free will given to us, but what educates that free will is the question?
You are not just the choices you make. Through life you have picked a habit or two and the reason these things become your habit and therefore the source of your choice and behaviour is because of what you EXPOSE YOURSELF to, but THANK GOD WE HAVE A CHOICE.

Romans 12v1 says “I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.)” Amplified Version |
As beings on this earth, our soul (the true us that goes back to God after death) easily picks up things because it feels senses via the body. So you will find that, a member of your body such as the eyes sees something that satisfies the body (flesh), though it may push the spirit of God in us further away from us and destroy the chance of the soul making heaven, we still choose it irrespective.
In most of us today, we have lost the control of our choices due to the lack of control of certain members of our existence (body). This is due to our worldly ways before a rebirth by the spirit. The problem is, once the world helps control what you choose or what you spend time with, then the battle for your choices were already made for you before you get a chance to even make the choice.
It then becomes important to look at what informs your heart, mind and eventually choices hence the question? did YOU really make that choice? Was that YOUR decision? What and who exactly formed that choice in you? Is it a verifiable choice by God in His word?
