Where are you & what will you do about it?

Seating at a wedding ceremony the other week or so, I was having a general chat with the Pastor of my local church Place of Victory for all nations (Pastor Chris) about walking with God and contribution to the kingdom.

I came away from that chat with a statement Pastor Chris made but which stuck in the shadow of my mind and it goes something like;

1. There are people who find delight and extreme joy reading the Word of God and can’t wait to read the Word daily like you would something you really love.

2. There are others who, although also love the Word of God and find delight in reading it but they do so out of discipline rather than simple love like those in number 1 above.

3. Then, there are those who don’t understand what I am saying but are still romancing the idea of reading the Word.

Consider these….

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law (Psalm 119:18)

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4)

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (Joshua 1:8)

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge (2 Peter 1:5)

Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching (1 Timothy 4:13)

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Either way you cut it, Jesus loves you and would like you to commune with Him daily…. don’t keep Him waiting.

I receive the grace for Godly desires and passions in my life in Jesus name

I receive grace for positive emotions in Jesus name

Father, help me prioritise my life in a way that will please you

I speak to each day that I walk this earth, I will focus my life according to the word of God hence forth in Jesus name

So shall it be!

  1. Bamz says:

Its a been a bit of a mix for me really. There’s times I fall into 1 and other times 2. It’s always great to be constantly in the first category but sometimes and for different reasons the Word appears to be not as desirable. God help me desire Your Word more than my daily “needs”. Amen!!!

  2. You can say that again. May the grace & thirst for Godly desires engulf us always…. AMEN
